Weekly Book Review No. 20

There is very frequent discussion in companies about increasing efficiency. Wolfgang Roth believes that we already work very efficiently, that is, we do things properly. He says that what could enrich our life and living together and make it healthy would be effectiveness. Not only doing things right, but doing the right things.

Wolfgang Roth: "Die resiliente Führungskraft. Sich selbst und andere gesund führen."

Because this book is currently only available in German, I recommend as an alternative from

Christine Perakis "The resilient leader".

Working for Ally Vison means a lot of liberty. When, how and where I work most efficiently, how I approach tasks and how I organize myself are just some of the new insights I have gained and I have the opportunity to continuously optimize my working environment. In the question how I lead myself best and with the retrospection to past team leading and main responsibilities, Wolfgang Roth's practice-oriented book catches me up in the best way.

He paints a picture of the current state of physical and mental health and workload in management and among employees, and offers a variety of practical solutions from his rich fund. Among other things, with his resilience driver's license. The Oxford dictionary defines resilience as psychological resistance and the ability to survive difficult life situations without lasting impairment.

Wolfgang Roth says that for far too long we have regarded the psyche and spirituality as irrelevant in the work process, and people have been reduced to partial aspects of their being. This reduction exhausts and makes us sick. What do you think about this? Do you have similar experiences or do you design your (work) everyday life in accordance with your personal needs, abilities and values? Do you even have the possibility to do so?

This book does not claim to reinvent everything, but the approach makes it for me. In easy to understand language, fluid to read, reduced to the essentials and so many practical tips and explanations in a small space. For me, that is the great quality of this specialist reading. I'm sure you will also feel well taken care of. It is very healing to realize during the reading that many things were/are not only like this with you, but that this is a social phenomenon and a general rethinking should happen. Since the author also gives us a model and offers solutions (and that on only 130 pages), "The resilient leader" is for me the book of the hour.

"Resilient (self) leadership definitely involves a human, values-based, collaborative, emotional, compassionate, spiritual, meaningful CONNECTION."
