Weekly Book Review No. 6

What if we knew now what we could be proud of at the end of our lives, what we regret and what we would have wanted to do differently? Bronnie Ware, palliative care nurse and end-of-life caregiver, has devoted much time to this question. Her patients' answers are as poetic as they are inspiring to define and rethink our (life) goals and priorities.

Bronnie Ware: «The top five regrets of the dying»

Do you sometimes feel like you're running in the rat race of everyday life and lose the thread of your life?

Bronnie Ware's book is a great counterpoint to this and encourages us to pause, take stock and perhaps also rethink some of the things we think are so right and important.

In the course of her work, the author has accompanied countless people in the last phase of life and dying. In the process, a lot of personal closeness and space for conversation has emerged. In her book, we gain insight into the most important lessons learned by the dying as they take stock of their lives and ask themselves what really matters at the end of life. The former manager of a large company, for example, would so have liked to have allowed herself to be happier instead of behaving in her job and marriage as was supposedly expected of her.

These and many other findings and insights inspire us to answer some questions for ourselves and our lives as well. Bronnie Ware's book is a great and beautiful introduction to this, and fits well into this winter season.
